UK Post-Study Work Visa: What’s Possible and What’s Not?
After a UK Post-Study Work (PSW) Visa (Graduate Route), certain things are possible while others are not. Here's a breakdown:
✅ Possible After a UK PSW Visa:
1. Work in Any Job – You can work in any role without employer sponsorship.
2. Switch to a Skilled Worker Visa – If you get a job with an eligible sponsor, you can switch to a Skilled Worker Visa for long-term stay.
3. Start a Business – You can be self-employed or open a business (but with restrictions).
4. Study Further – You can pursue additional studies, but some courses may require a different visa.
5. Apply for Other Visas – You can switch to visas like Global Talent Visa or Health and Care Worker Visa if eligible.
❌ Not Possible After a UK PSW Visa:
1. No Direct Path to Settlement (ILR) – The Graduate Route does not count towards Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
2. No Extension – The PSW visa cannot be extended beyond 2 years (or 3 years for PhD graduates).
3. No Access to Public Funds – You cannot claim benefits or government support.
4. No Work as a Professional Sportsperson – Certain restricted jobs are not allowed.
