Visa and passport requirements for India to Kathmandu

No, Indian citizens do not need a visa to travel to Kathmandu, Nepal or anywhere in Nepal. However, you must carry valid travel documents for entry.

Accepted Travel Documents:

Passport (Valid Indian passport) or

Voter ID card (Issued by the Election Commission of India)

Documents Not Accepted for Travel to Nepal:

Aadhaar Card

PAN Card

Driving License

For Minors (Below 18 years old):

If traveling with parents, a birth certificate along with a school ID may be required if no passport or voter ID is available.

By Air Travel:

Airlines require Indian passengers to present either a passport or a voter ID at check-in.

If entering Nepal via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you will need to fill out an arrival form at immigration.

By Road/Rail:

No passport or visa is required at border crossings.

Indian citizens can enter Nepal via Sunauli, Raxaul, Jogbani, Banbasa, Panitanki, or other designated entry points.
