Is health economics low-shortage skill for Tier 2 visa?

Health economics is generally not categorized as a ""shortage occupation"" for the UK's Tier 2 (now called the Skilled Worker visa) sponsorship. The UK's Shortage Occupation List identifies roles with a labor shortage in the UK where employers find it difficult to hire locally. While there is demand for health economists in healthcare and policy settings, it has not been deemed high enough to warrant a ""shortage occupation"" status under the visa sponsorship criteria.

However, this doesn't mean that health economists cannot secure a Skilled Worker visa. Employers can still sponsor health economists if the job meets the visa's salary and skill-level requirements, and if the employer is approved to sponsor visas. The job will simply not benefit from the streamlined process and lower salary thresholds granted to shortage occupations.
