What Is the Post-Study Work Visa Duration in the UK?
To be eligible for the Graduate Visa (UK Post-Study Work Visa), you must meet the following criteria:
1. Successful Completion of a Degree:
You must have completed a degree at the undergraduate level or above from a recognized UK higher education provider. This includes bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees (PhD).
2. Student Visa Holders:
You must have been on a Student Visa (formerly Tier 4 Visa) during your studies in the UK. You cannot apply for the Graduate Visa if you were on another type of visa.
3. Completed the Course in the UK:
The degree must have been completed in the UK, and you must have attended the course in person. Remote study or distance learning may not qualify unless you were granted special permission for remote study due to circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic.
4. Course Duration:
You must have completed a course that was at least 12 months long (for undergraduate and master's degrees). For PhD graduates, the course must meet the relevant criteria for a doctoral qualification.
5. Application Timing:
You must apply for the Graduate Visa within 2 years of completing your course. The application should be made from within the UK.
6. English Language Requirement:
You must have met the English language requirement during your Student Visa application. This is typically covered if you were granted a Student Visa, as part of that process.
Important Note:
The Graduate Visa allows you to work freely in any job and at any skill level, but it is important to apply while your Student Visa is still valid. Once granted, the Graduate Visa is typically valid for 2 years (for most degrees) or 3 years (for PhD graduates).
