Will laminated certificates cause problem during the application of the Indian passport and visa application?
Will laminated certificates affect visa process?
Laminated certificates generally do not cause a problem for Indian passport or visa applications, as long as the details on the document are clear, readable, and authentic. The Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or visa authorities mainly check whether the document is genuine and matches your application.
However, issues can arise if:
• The lamination makes it difficult to see security features, stamps, or seals.
• The lamination is damaged, raising doubts about tampering.
If an officer has trouble verifying the document, you may be asked to provide an unlaminated original or a certified true copy from the issuing authority (such as a municipal office, university, or school board).
So, laminated certificates are usually accepted, but carrying an additional notarized copy or the digital version (like DigiLocker for Indian documents) is advisable to avoid delays.
