The National Immigration Administration of China recently introduced a new visa policy aimed at permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macau. Starting July 10, individuals holding permanent residency in these regions can apply for multiple-entry travel visas to mainland China.

These visas are valid for five years, which represents a significant extension compared to previous policies.

This new policy allows foreign permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macau to enter mainland China more conveniently and frequently. It is designed to enhance mobility and strengthen ties between mainland China and the two special administrative regions.

It’s important to note that while the visas are valid for five years, each stay in mainland China under this policy should not exceed 90 days. This limitation ensures that the visa holders can make multiple visits over the five-year period but are restricted in the duration of each individual stay.

This approach balances the convenience of extended visa validity with the need to regulate the length of individual visits.

Overall, the new visa policy aims to facilitate easier travel and foster closer connections between mainland China and Hong Kong/Macau, benefiting permanent residents of these regions who frequently travel across these borders.
