The Australian Department of Home Affairs has expanded the Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa program to include citizens of the Republic of the Philippines, effective July 1, 2024. This move is expected to enhance cultural exchange and strengthen ties between the two countries.
This change is formalized in the Migration (Arrangements for Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) Visa Applications) Amendment (The Philippines) Instrument (LIN 24/041) 2024. This instrument amends previous legislation (LIN 21/019) to include the Philippines as an eligible country for the visa program.
The updated instrument also outlines the educational qualifications required for applicants from the Philippines. This ensures that participants meet specific criteria, aligning with the program’s objectives of promoting cultural and educational exchange.
