Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Age and Income:
    • Aged 30 or above: Annual income of at least USD 40,000 in one of the last two years.
    • Aged 20 to 29: Annual income of at least USD 20,000 in one of the last two years.

Additionally, applicants must be citizens of countries eligible for 90-day visa-free entry to Taiwan and have abided by the terms of a digital nomad visa issued by another country.

Application Process:

Applications can be submitted online or through Taiwan's overseas missions. The visa grants an initial stay of up to six months, with the potential for extension based on program performance. Applicants with prior digital nomad visas from other countries will benefit from expedited processing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Strategic Objectives:

This initiative is part of Taiwan's broader strategy to attract and retain foreign digital professionals, aiming to boost the local economy and tourism. The government plans to expand incentives for digital nomads, such as investment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and facilitate up to 400,000 remote workers by 2032.

Unique Offerings:

Taiwan offers a unique blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern infrastructure, making it an attractive destination for digital nomads. The island boasts stunning national parks, beaches, and a subtropical climate, along with efficient public transportation systems. Additionally, Taiwan is recognized as one of the safest countries for solo travelers, enhancing its appeal to remote workers seeking a secure and enriching environment.
