Thailand Embassy in Dhaka Eases Visa Process for Patients, UN Participants, and Athletes
New Visa Policy : The Thai Embassy in Dhaka has simplified the visa application process for critical patients, UN event participants, and athletes, effective from Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Reason for Change : This adjustment comes in response to the rising demand for Thai e-visas, which were introduced in Bangladesh in January 2025.
Critical Patients : Patients requiring urgent medical treatments like chemotherapy, major surgeries, cancer care, and heart procedures, along with pregnant women with complications, can now contact their Thai hospital or an official representative in Bangladesh to verify their needs and request the embassy’s assistance. Each patient can bring one attendant, with the possibility to apply for more through the usual process.
UN Participants : Those attending UN conferences or workshops in Bangkok should ask the organizing agency to send their details to Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for visa assistance.
Athletes : Athletes traveling to Thailand for international competitions should have their sports association or the Sports Authority of Thailand forward their details to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for visa facilitation.
Advance Notification : Participants are encouraged to email the embassy in advance with details about their event.
Improved Service : The embassy is enhancing its application and payment systems to provide better service and experience for applicants.
Processing Time : Visa processing typically takes at least 10 working days, so applicants are advised to apply early.
Holiday Notice : The embassy will be closed on February 12, 2025, for Magha Puja Day, a Buddhist holiday, and will not accept payments that day.
