Jukhtakvank Monastery: Twin Jukhtakvank Monastery

Jukhtakvank Monastery, also known as Jukhtak Vank, is a small 11th- or 12th-century monastery complex located in a clearing within Dilijan National Park, 3.2 km northwest from the town of Dilijan in the Tavush Province of Armenia. It sits in close proximity to the church of Matosavank as well as a cemetery that surrounds the church.

Visitor fee
There is no visitor fee to enter Jukhtakvank Monastery.

Transportation
The best way to get to Jukhtakvank Monastery is by car. From Dilijan, take the road towards the Mineral Water Factory along the river Bildan to the very end. There is a small parking lot at the start of the hiking trail to the monastery.

Alternatively, you can hike to Jukhtakvank Monastery from Dilijan. The hike is approximately 3.2 km long and takes about 1-2 hours each way. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow.

Things to do
The main thing to do at Jukhtakvank Monastery is to explore the two small chapels that make up the complex. The larger chapel, Surb Grigor Church, has a small cruciform central-plan, with one portal and had a single dome and drum that collapsed long ago. The smaller chapel is dedicated to the Holy Mother of God.

In addition to exploring the chapels, you can also enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the monastery complex and the surrounding forest. There are a few benches where you can sit and relax, and there are also some nice photo opportunities.
