Step-by-step guide

Let us walk you through the process

  • To identify the appropriate visa type for the UK, consider the purpose of your visit, such as tourism, work, study, or joining family, as each category has specific visa requirements.
  • Visit the official UK government website or consult the nearest British embassy or consulate in your country to access accurate and up-to-date information on visa categories, eligibility criteria, and application procedures.
  • Carefully review the documentation and financial requirements for the chosen visa type to ensure a successful visa application process for the UK.

Submit your online application directly to UK Visa and Immigration website https://www.gov.uk/browse/visasimmigration . You’ll have to complete supporting documents as per the UK document checklist relevant to
your visa category.

To apply for a visa through GOV.UK, you must pay for both the visa fee and healthcare surcharge (if applicable). After payment, you will be given a reference number that starts with GWF. This reference number will be useful if you need to make any changes to your application or appointment in the future.

After you have successfully submitted and paid for your visa application on the GOV.UK website, you will be redirected to the VFS Global website to schedule an appointment at a Visa Application Centre where you will have your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) collected. At the Visa Application Centre, you may also choose to add optional services offered by VFS Global to expedite your application, simplify the process, or make it more comfortable.

You have the option to submit all the necessary documents required to support your application online, without having to leave your home, office or school. This means you can keep your important documents with you. However, if you don't have access to a scanner, we offer a Document Scanning Assistance option at the Visa Application Centre to help you scan your documents. Please note that this service may have a fee associated with it. For more information, please refer to our guidelines for supporting documents.

The appointment for your visa application must be kept. You are not allowed to send a substitute.

Please review our instructions before coming to the visa application centre.

Once your visa application decision has been returned to the Visa Application Centre, you will receive an email update. If you cannot easily access email or want more detailed tracking information, you can choose to receive updates by SMS to your phone. You may need to check whether this service is available at the Visa Application Centre you're visiting, and you'll have to pay a fee for this service.

Once a decision has been made on your visa application, we will contact you to inform you when you can pick up your documents or passport from the Visa Application Centre. You can also choose to have your documents returned to you by courier for an additional fee. Please wait until you are contacted before attending the Visa Application Centre, as you won't be able to collect your passport until it is ready.

To collect your documents in person, you'll need to bring the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre and a form of government identification. The options available for collecting your documents may vary, so please check with the Visa Application Centre at the time of your appointment.

VISA APPLICATION FORMS

To submit our visa application, we need to provide a list of forms as required.

To acquire a work visa for the UK from India, the following application forms are typically required:

Tier 2 (General) Visa Application Form: This is the main application form for skilled workers applying for a work visa in the UK.

Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) Application: Your prospective employer in the UK needs to apply for a CoS on your behalf, which is a mandatory requirement for the visa application.

Appendix D: This form is required if you are applying for a Tier 2 (Intra-Company Transfer) visa, which allows multinational companies to transfer employees to their UK branch.

Tier 2 (Sportsperson) or Tier 5 (Temporary Worker - Creative and Sporting) Visa Application Form: If you are applying for a visa as a sportsperson or for temporary work in the creative and sporting fields, you will need to use the relevant application form.

It's important to note that the specific application forms and requirements may vary depending on the type of work visa you are applying for, such as the skilled worker visa, intra-company transfer visa, or temporary worker visa. It is recommended to consult the official UKVI website or contact the UK embassy or consulate in India for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the application forms for a work visa to the UK.

  • Health and Care Worker visa

Securing a Health and Care Worker Visa: A Professional Guide

The Health and Care Worker Visa streamlines the immigration process for qualified medical and social care professionals seeking employment within the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS), with NHS suppliers, or in adult social care. This visa offers expedited processing, along with the potential for permanent residency in the UK.

To navigate the application process effectively, follow these steps:

    Eligibility Assessment

    1. Occupational Qualification:Verify that your profession aligns with the eligible occupations listed under the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes. The UK government website provides a comprehensive list for reference https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa.
    2. Employer Sponsorship:Secure a confirmed job offer from a licensed employer authorized by the Home Office to sponsor your visa under this route. This typically includes the NHS, NHS suppliers, or licensed adult social care providers.
    3. English Language Proficiency:Demonstrate sufficient English language skills by achieving a B1 level score on an approved English language test aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) scale. Alternatively, possess a recognized English language qualification or be from a country with an exemption based on presumed English language proficiency.

    Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) Acquisition

Upon receiving a confirmed job offer, your employer will electronically apply for a CoS on your behalf. This document confirms the offered position details, your salary, and your employer's sponsorship eligibility.

    Visa Application Submission

Once you have the CoS, proceed with your online visa application through the UK government's immigration portal. The application requires various documents, including:

    • Passport
    • Completed application form
    • CoS
    • Proof of professional qualifications
    • Evidence of English language proficiency
    • Tuberculosis test results (if applicable)

Visa Fee Payment and Biometric Enrollment

The application process incurs a visa fee, with the exact amount varying depending on your circumstances. You'll also need to submit your fingerprints and a digital photograph at a designated visa application center.

    Awaiting Decision and Arrival Preparations

The Home Office will process your application and communicate their decision. Processing times can fluctuate, so be prepared for a wait of several weeks.

    Visa Approval and Arrival Procedures

If your visa is approved, you'll receive a visa vignette in your passport, authorizing your travel to the UK. Upon arrival, you may encounter additional immigration checks.

    Additional Considerations

    • Dependants:You may be eligible to bring your dependents (partner and children) under this visa. However, recent changes have been implemented regarding eligibility for social care workers. Refer to the latest government guidance for details https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa.

What You'll Need:

  • Valid Passport:Your passport must be valid for your intended stay in the UK.
  • Completed Online Application:Ensure you have a printout or confirmation of your completed online application form.
  • VAC Appointment Confirmation:Don't forget your confirmation for your biometric enrolment appointment at the VAC.
  • Supporting Documents:Depending on your exempt category, you may need additional supporting documents. For instance, diplomats might need to provide diplomatic credentials, while military personnel might require a letter from their commanding officer.

Submission and Decision:

  1. Attend Your VAC Appointment:Visit the VAC on your scheduled date to provide your biometric information.
  2. Processing Time:Allow processing time as outlined by UKVI. This typically takes around three weeks.
  3. Visa Decision:You'll be notified of the decision via email.

Additional Considerations:

  • Application Window:You can apply for an Exempt Vignette up to three months before your intended entry to the UK. Don't submit your application too early, as it might be rejected.
  • No Application Fee:There's no charge for applying for an Exempt Vignette.
  • Validity Period:The Exempt Vignette is typically valid for the duration of your visit as stated in your application. However, it's crucial to remember that it doesn't guarantee entry into the UK. Border officials have the authority to deny entry even with a valid Exempt Vignette.
