  • First, Determine your visa type and eligibility.
  • Check required documents, fees, and processing time.
  • Ensure your application follows visa rules; translate if not in English.

  • When you're ready to apply, download the visa form, fill it out, print it, and take it along with the necessary documents to the Visa Application Centre for submission.

  • After filling out your visa form, you can drop it off at the visa application center without needing to schedule an appointment. Please verify the center's opening hours.

  • After submitting your application, you'll need to pay the visa application fee. If you download and print the form to bring to the Visa Application Centre, you can make the payment during your appointment.
  • You'll pay the visa fee at the Visa Application Centre.

  • You'll get an email when your decision is back at the Visa Application Centre. If email isn't easy for you, you might get updates by SMS on your phone. Check if this service is at your Centre.
  • You can also track your visa status online. Use the Reference Number and your last name from the invoice/receipt.

  • You can retrieve your passport after a visa decision either from the Visa Application Centre or via courier for an extra fee.
  • To collect in person: bring the Centre's receipt and Government ID. You might send a representative with an authorization letter, their ID, your receipt, and your ID.

DOCUMENT CHECKLIST

When applying for a student visa (Long-stay visa D) to Malta from Bangladesh, you will generally need to provide a comprehensive set of documents to support your application. The following checklist covers the most common documents needed:

  1. Application Form: Duly completed and signed by the applicant.
  2. Passport Photo: One recent passport-size color photograph with a white background (3.5cm by 4.5cm). Ensure the photograph is not stapled to the Application Form.
  3. Passport/Travel Document:
    • Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay.
    • Issued within the last 10 years and not exceeding a 10-year validity period.
    • Should have a minimum of 3 blank pages.
  4. Overseas Travel Medical Insurance:
    • Coverage for all Schengen countries.
    • Minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros or equivalent for all risks (accident, illness, medical emergency, evacuation, etc.).
    • Policy validity of at least 91 days from the date of travel to Malta.
  5. Confirmed Travel Itinerary: Including travel dates. A confirmed return flight ticket may be requested before visa issuance.
  6. Proof of Sufficient Funds:
    • Equivalent to 75% of the national minimum wage per month of study.
    • Covering all expenses (tuition fees + daily expenses) for the entire study period.
    • Required documents:
      • Letter from the bank indicating available balance.
      • Last 6 months’ original bank statements of the student or sponsor.
      • Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for the past 3 years, accompanied by verified CPC acknowledgments.
      • Affidavit of Sponsorship if applicable.
  7. Original Letter of Acceptance: From the educational institution in Malta, specifying course details, duration, cost, contact hours per week, credits awarded, acceptance status, and accommodation details if provided.
  8. Course Details: Copy of the timetable and lesson schedule for each month of study.
  9. Proof of Accommodation: For the first six months of residence or the course duration, including:
    • Confirmed hotel booking.
    • Signed lease contract.
    • ‘Declaration of Proof’ signed by the Invitee with supporting documents, witnessed by a Maltese Public Notary.
  10. Proof of Payment: Receipts related to the applicant’s course payment, based on the course value:
    • For courses up to €1,000: Full payment receipt.
    • For courses between €1,000 and €2,500: Receipt covering at least 75%.
    • For courses equal to or higher than €2,500: Receipt covering at least 50%.
  11. Educational Certificates: Original documents apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs of the issuing country, along with photocopies.
  12. Passport Copies: Original and photocopy of the passport bio page only.

  • Visa fees won’t be refunded unless your application is ineligible.

  • The High Commission might ask for more documents or an interview.

VISA APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

  1. Choose a Course and Institution:
    • First, decide on the course and educational institution in Malta where you wish to study. Ensure that the institution is recognized and offers programs that are eligible for a student visa.
  2. Apply and Get Accepted:
    • Apply to the chosen institution and receive an acceptance letter or confirmation of enrollment. You’ll need this document for your visa application.
  3. Initiate Your Application
    • When You’re Prepared to Apply, Download the Visa Form, Complete it, Print it, and Take it Along with the Required Documents to the Visa Application Centre for Submission.
  4. Schedule an Appointment
    • Once You’ve Filled Out Your Visa Form, You Can Submit it at the Visa Application Centre Without a Prior Appointment. Please Verify the Centre’s Operating Hours.
  5. Make Payment
    • Following Submission of Your Application, You’ll Be Required to Pay the Visa Application Fee. If You Download and Print the Form to Bring to the Visa Application Centre, You Can Make the Payment During Your Visit.
    • The Visa Fee Can be Paid at the Visa Application Centre.
  6. Visit the Visa Application Centre
    • You Must Personally Submit Your Completed Visa Application Form at the Visa Application Centre.
    • Familiarize Yourself with the Procedures at the Visa Application Centre.
  7. Track Your Application
    • You Will Receive an Email Notification When Your Decision is Ready at the Visa Application Centre. Alternatively, if Email Isn’t Convenient, You May Opt for SMS Updates on Your Mobile Phone. Confirm if this Service is Available at Your Centre.
    • You Can Also Monitor Your Visa Status Online Using the Reference Number and Your Last Name from the Invoice/Receipt.
  8. Retrieve Your Passport
    • You Can Collect Your Passport Following a Visa Decision Either from the Visa Application Centre or Opt for Courier Delivery for an Additional Fee.
    • For In-Person Collection: Bring the Centre’s Receipt and a Valid Government ID. If Sending a Representative, Provide Them with an Authorization Letter, Their ID, Your Receipt, and Your ID.

  9. Review and Confirm:
