The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has announced a special one-month amnesty program for all foreigners currently overstaying their expired visit visas. The move comes as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to regulate residency and control violations ahead of the Hajj season.
Under this initiative, individuals holding expired single or multiple-entry visit visas are granted the opportunity to exit Saudi Arabia legally without facing fines, detention, or travel bans, provided they complete the process within the stipulated time frame.
Key Points of the Amnesty:
Jawazat emphasized that those who fail to avail this amnesty may face hefty penalties, including fines up to 50,000 SAR, a six-month jail term, deportation, and a ban on re-entry into the Kingdom. Additionally, sponsors of violators could also be penalized.
The Saudi government has stepped up its monitoring of visa violations during religious pilgrimage seasons and urged overstayers to comply with the law and benefit from this final exit opportunity.
