Vietnam has introduced a new five-year “talent visa,” aiming to draw highly skilled foreign professionals, innovators, and cultural contributors to support the country’s long-term growth. The initiative, launched under Decree No. 221/2025/NĐ-CP, is part of Vietnam’s expanding “golden visa” framework.
The talent visa—issued as a Special Visa Exemption Card (SVEC)—targets individuals with exceptional achievements in fields such as science, technology, business leadership, culture, arts, sports, and tourism. Eligible applicants include top academics, researchers, digital-technology specialists, executives of major enterprises, artists with recognized influence, and elite athletes.
Holders of the SVEC will receive multiple-entry access to Vietnam for up to five years, with each stay capped at 90 days. The card will be available in both physical and digital formats, enabling smoother travel and simplified administrative procedures. Applicants may also qualify for temporary residence and digital-ID integration during their stay.
Vietnam’s new long-term visa aligns with the government’s strategy to strengthen innovation, cultural development, and global competitiveness. By easing entry for high-value professionals, the country hopes to accelerate advancement in key sectors and reinforce its position as a rising hub for talent in Southeast Asia.
