In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties, India and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to liberalise visa policies, aiming to make cross-border travel smoother for citizens of both countries. The decision was made during the sixth meeting of the India-UAE Joint Committee on Consular Affairs (JCCA) held in Abu Dhabi.
Officials discussed expanding visa facilitation measures, improving consular access, and enhancing information-sharing to support travellers, expatriates, and businesses. Both sides also reviewed cooperation on extradition procedures and mutual legal assistance, signalling deeper collaboration on security and legal matters.
The meeting highlighted the growing strategic partnership between India and the UAE, built on strong economic and people-to-people links. With millions of Indians living and working in the UAE, easier visa processes are expected to provide significant relief and boost mobility.
The move comes as the two nations continue to build on their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the CEPA trade agreement, which has already accelerated economic exchange. Further details on the revised visa norms are expected to be released soon.
