Remember: The Embassy only accepts visa applications from students accepted by Estonian Universities. Once in Estonia, students need to apply for a study permit Click Here at the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board. After getting the permit, family members can apply for their own permit or a visit visa.

  2. Passport: Your passport should be issued in the last 10 years, have at least two empty pages for visas, and be valid for at least 3 months after the visa's end date.
  3. Passport-sized Photographs: Recent passport-sized photographs that meet the specific requirements of the Estonian embassy or consulate.
  4. Letter of Acceptance: A formal acceptance letter from the Estonian educational institution where you have been admitted.
  5. Proof of Tuition Payment: Evidence of payment of tuition fees for the intended study program.
  6. Study Plan or Curriculum: A detailed study plan or curriculum of the program you are enrolled in.
  7. Proof of Sufficient Funds: Documentation demonstrating that you have enough funds to cover your tuition fees, living expenses, and other costs during your stay in Estonia. This could include bank statements, scholarship letters, or a sponsor's letter.

Please don't send any papers to the Embassy's email before your appointment. Everyone must give the papers in person.

Important note: If you're applying for an Estonian long-term D-visa, please include the main reason for your visa application (e.g., studying at the University of...) in the additional information section at the end of the booking. Keep in mind that the Embassy can remove incorrect bookings.

If someone plans to stay in Estonia for over a year, they should apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) at the Embassy. They can then travel to Estonia after getting the TRP card from the Embassy.

 

VISA APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

The process for applying for a Estonia study visa (Long Term “D” Type) from India typically involves the following steps:

  1. Acceptance from an Estonian University: Before applying for a student visa, you must receive an acceptance letter from a recognized Estonian educational institution. You will need to follow the admission requirements of the university and program you're interested in.
  2. Complete Visa Application Form: when you are ready to apply for an Estonian visa. You can either register online or download, fill out, and print the visa form and submit it in person at the Estonian Embassy in New Delhi.
  3. Gather Required Documents: Prepare a set of required documents for your visa application.

  4. Schedule an Appointment: Visit the official website of the Estonian embassy or consulate to schedule an appointment for submitting your visa application. Some embassies or consulates allow you to book appointments online.
  5. Attend the Visa Interview: Attend the visa interview on the scheduled date. Be sure to bring all your documents, including the application form and supporting materials. During the interview, you may be asked questions about your study plans, financial situation, and other relevant matters.
  6. Pay Visa Fee: Pay the required visa application fee at the time of your appointment, as per the embassy's guidelines. The fee can vary, so check the embassy's website for the current amount.
  7. Submit Your Application: Submit your completed visa application form and all the required documents at the embassy or consulate during your appointment.
  8. Wait for Processing: The processing time for student visas can vary. It's recommended to apply well in advance of your intended travel date to allow for any potential delays.
  9. Collect Your Visa: If your visa application is approved, you will be notified about when and how to collect your visa. Make sure to follow the instructions provided by the embassy or consulate.

Note:

  • Long-stay D-visa applications under various reasons (study, short-term work) must be done in person at the Estonian Embassy in New Delhi. VFS cannot process D-visa applications; apply directly at the Embassy.
  • For longer stays or settling with a family member in Estonia, apply for a residence permit. After receiving the TRP card from the Embassy, you can travel to Estonia. Applying for a D visa at the Embassy is not possible in this case.
  • A valid reason is needed for long-term D-visa application according to Estonian law. Visit family with a Schengen visa for short stays.
  • In some cases (study, business), apply for a D-visa at the Embassy for stays over a year. After approval, get a Temporary Residence Permit from the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board in Estonia.
  • Submit either a Temporary Residence Permit application or a D-visa application at the Embassy, not both.
  • Visa decisions take a maximum of 15 days.
  • Submit D-visa and TRP applications in person at the Embassy. For minors exempt from fingerprints, a parent or guardian's presence is sufficient.
