Step-by-step guide (Apply for a National Visa D Visa)

Let us walk you through the process

  • To apply for your National Visa (D Visa), use MIGRIS. Click here for instructions. First, figure out the type you need and if you qualify.
  • We'll support you throughout the application process, but we can't help choose a permit category.

  • You can pay the government fee in two ways: online or at a bank to the State Tax Inspectorate in Lithuania. You can also pay it when you go to the VFS application center to give them your documents and biometrics.
  • When you visit the application center, you'll also have to pay the VFS Global service fee, and this fee is in the local currency if it applies to you.

  • Once you apply online with MIGRIS, you must schedule an appointment at the VFS Global Application Centre to provide your biometrics. They'll email you the appointment info after you confirm it.
  • Don't forget to bring that email when you go for your biometrics appointment.
  • If you're applying with family or friends, mention that you're part of a group. But remember, each person in the group needs to book their own appointment separately. It's really important for everyone in the group to do this on their own.

  • You must go to the application center in person to give your biometric data. There, they will check your identity by looking at the copy of your ID that you submitted with your online application on MIGRIS.
  • You should bring the original documents you submitted on MIGRIS to your appointment. Also, make sure to attach a copy of the payment document (if you paid online) to your online application. After they verify this information, they will take your biometric data.
  • Just so you know, if needed, the Migration Department may invite you for a remote interview within 5 days after you submit your biometric data at the VFS Global application center.
  • If you want to learn more about what happens at the Application Centre, you can find out more details.

  • You can track your e-application's progress in your MIGRIS account. Any decision updates will be in your MIGRIS account and sent to your email.
  • Remember, VFS Global and Migration Department employees can't offer extra details about your application's status.

  • Once the Application Centre has your National Visa (D Visa) permit, go there in person to verify your identity and have the visa stamped in your passport. Make sure to bring your original travel document (passport).
  • Before heading to collect your National Visa (D Visa) permit, check the Application Centre's opening hours.
