This program typically requires individuals to purchase or lease a qualifying property, contribute to the Maltese National Development and Social Fund, and meet other financial requirements. Successful applicants and their families can enjoy the benefits of permanent residence in Malta.

It does not grant permanent residence but provides a residence permit.
  3. Permanent Residence for EU/EEA/Swiss Nationals:
    • This program is for citizens of European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Swiss nationals who wish to establish permanent residence in Malta. Once naturalized, individuals enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as Maltese-born citizens.
  7. Long-Term Resident Status:
    • Long-Term Resident (LTR) status is available to third-country nationals who have legally resided in Malta for an extended period. This status provides certain rights and benefits, such as the ability to live and work in Malta without the need for a work permit. LTR status can be a step towards permanent residence or naturalization.
  8. Other Special Programs:
    • Malta may introduce various special programs and incentives aimed at attracting specific groups of individuals, such as investors, retirees, or entrepreneurs. These programs can offer unique benefits and eligibility criteria tailored to the intended target audience.
