The Government of India has launched eight new Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) across the United States, significantly enhancing access to visa, passport, and related services for the Indian diaspora. The centres, operational from today, are located in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Edison (New Jersey), Orlando, Raleigh, and San Jose.
With these additions, India now operates 16 ICACs in the U.S., with a 17th centre in Los Angeles scheduled to open later this month. The facilities are managed by VFS Global in collaboration with the Embassy of India and its consulates.
The expanded network will process a range of services, including visa applications, passport renewals, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards, renunciation of Indian citizenship, police clearance certificates, and attestations. All centres will also operate on Saturdays, offering greater convenience to applicants.
Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra highlighted that the initiative strengthens people-to-people ties and supports the needs of the over 5.3 million people of Indian origin living in the U.S. Community leaders welcomed the move, noting that it will ease travel formalities and reduce processing delays.
The development aligns with India’s broader strategy to expand its diplomatic and community outreach in the U.S., complementing plans to establish full-fledged consulates in Boston and Los Angeles in the near future.
