The Government of Thailand has announced plans to launch a mandatory online system for work permit applications and foreign worker registrations, aiming to streamline administrative processes and enhance transparency in employment documentation.
According to the Department of Employment (DOE), the new e-Work Permit platform will become operational from October 13, 2025, requiring all employers and foreign workers to complete applications, renewals, and cancellations digitally. The initiative aligns with Thailand’s broader push toward digital transformation in public services.
During a transition period until January 28, 2026, manual submissions will still be accepted in limited cases where technical errors occur, provided applicants can present valid proof such as screenshots of system issues.
The online system will allow real-time tracking of applications, reduce paperwork, and improve processing efficiency. However, authorities are expected to release additional details regarding processing timelines, fees, and registration procedures in the coming months.
Employers are advised to register on the new portal and verify their identities via the ThaiID mobile app to ensure compliance. Failure to adapt to the new digital process could result in delays, penalties, or permit complications.
This move underscores Thailand’s efforts to modernize its labour management framework, providing a more secure and efficient experience for foreign employees and businesses operating in the country.
