Vietnam Types of Visas - Explore Different Visa Options

Vietnam offers several types of visas to cater to different travel purposes. Here are some of the common visa types available for entry into Vietnam:

  1. NG1: This visa is issued to members of delegations invited by high-ranking officials in Vietnam, such as the General Secretary of the Communist Party, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister.
  2. NG2: This visa is issued to members of delegations invited by officials like the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Chief Procurator, Ministers, provincial and municipal Party Committee Secretary, People’s Council Chairman, and People’s Committee Chairman.
  3. NG3: This visa is issued to members of diplomatic and consular missions, representative offices of international organizations under the United Nations, and inter-governmental organizations. It also covers their spouses, children under 18, and private servants during their term of office.
  4. NG4: This visa is issued to working partners, visitors, and guests of diplomatic and consular missions, representative offices of international organizations, and their staff.
  5. LV1: This visa is issued to working partners of various committees, agencies, ministries, governmental bodies, socio-political organizations, and the People’s Councils and Committees at the central administration level.
  6. LV2: This visa is issued to working partners of socio-political organizations, social organizations, and Vietnam’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
  7. ĐT: This visa is issued to foreign investors and foreign lawyers operating in Vietnam.
  8. DN: This visa is issued to working partners of Vietnamese businesses.
  9. NN1: This visa is issued to the chief representatives of representative offices/projects of international organizations and foreign NGOs in Vietnam.
  10. NN2: This visa is issued to the heads of representative offices and branches of foreign businesses, as well as representative offices of foreign economic, cultural, and professional institutions in Vietnam.
  11. NN3: This visa is issued to working partners of foreign NGOs, representative offices, branches of foreign businesses, and representative offices of foreign economic, cultural, and professional institutions in Vietnam.
  12. DH: This visa is issued to interns and students.
  13. HN: This visa is issued to attendees of conferences and seminars.
  14. PV1: This visa is issued to resident foreign correspondents and reporters in Vietnam.
  15. PV2: This visa is issued to foreign correspondents and reporters with a short-term visa to Vietnam.
  16. LĐ: This visa is issued to workers and laborers.
  17. DL: This visa is issued to tourists.
  18. TT: This visa is issued to the spouse and children under 18 of a foreigner granted specific visas such as LV1, LV2, ĐT, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LĐ or to a foreigner who is a parent, spouse, or child of a Vietnamese citizen.
  19. VR: This visa is issued to applicants visiting relatives or entering Vietnam for other purposes.
  20. SQ: The head of Viet Nam’s mission abroad is eligible to issue up-to-30-day visa for foreigners who enter Vietnam for the purpose of market survey, tourism, visiting relatives, or medical treatment in following cases:
    • a) A person who has working relations with the Viet Nam’s visa granting agency abroad and his/her spouse and children; or a person who applies for Viet Nam visa with a request (in written form) of a competent agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country
    • b) A person who holds a guarantee diplomatic note issued by the diplomatic missions or consular agencies based in the host country
    • c) Based on a a guarantee diplomatic note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the host country.
