Armenia Resident Cards: Complete Overview

TEMPORARY RESIDENT CARD
The Temporary Resident Card is first given for one year, and it can be extended for another year. To extend it, the applicant needs to apply at least 30 days before the card expires.

To qualify for a Temporary Resident Card, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Study in Armenia
  • Hold a work permit in Armenia
  • Be a spouse, parent, or child of a foreign citizen who holds a Temporary Resident Card in Armenia
  • Be a spouse, parent, child, or relative (sibling, grandparent, grandchild) of an Armenian citizen or a foreign citizen with a Special Passport of Armenia
  • Engage in business activities in Armenia
  • Be an Armenian national
  • Qualify under other circumstances specified by the law.

PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD
The Permanent Resident Card is initially valid for five years, and it can be extended for an additional five years. To extend it, the applicant needs to apply at least 30 days before the card expires.

To be eligible for a Permanent Resident Card, a foreign citizen must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be a spouse or relative (sibling, grandparent, grandchild) of an Armenian citizen or a foreign citizen holding a Special Passport of Armenia, possess sufficient housing or property in Armenia, and have legally resided in Armenia for three years before applying for a Permanent Resident Card.
  • Engage in business activities in Armenia.
  • Be an Armenian national.

Where to submit your application?
You can apply at the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. The address is 17/10 Building, 4th District, Davtashen, Yerevan 0054. They are open on Mondays to Thursdays from 09:00 to 17:00, with a break from 14:00 to 15:00, and on Fridays from 10:00 to 17:00, with a break from 14:00 to 15:00.

The processing time for the application is up to 30 days from the date of submission.

Required Documents
Here is the list of documents required for the application:

  1. Completed application form.
  2. Three color photos – 35 x 45 mm in size.
  3. Passport, a copy of the passport, and a notarized Armenian translation of the passport.
  4. Documents that support the conditions for applying for the residence permit or its extension in Armenia.
  5. Medical certificate.
  6. Receipt of payment for the fee.

Fee Detail:
Here are the fees for various services related to resident cards and special passports in Armenia:

  1. Temporary Resident Card (up to one year): 105,000 Armenian Drams (AMD).
  2. Extension of the Temporary Resident Card (up to one year): 105,000 AMD.
  3. Permanent Resident Card (5 years): 140,000 AMD.
  4. Special Passport (10 years): 150,000 AMD.
