A Chandigarh-based immigration firm allegedly defrauded a Ludhiana nurse, Amandeep Kaur, of ₹6.8 lakh by falsely promising an Australian visa. The accused, Rajdeep and Shally Sharma of Angad Info Overseas Consultancy Pvt Ltd, assured her that she would get the visa within six months for a total fee of ₹16 lakh.

How the Fraud Happened

  • July 2023: Kaur approached the firm after being referred by an acquaintance.
  • Payments Made: She and her husband transferred money in installments from July 2023 to March 2024.
  • Visa Delays: The firm kept delaying the process and dodging inquiries.
  • Threats Issued: When questioned, Shally allegedly threatened Kaur, citing Rajdeep’s powerful connections.
  • Previous Scam: Another FIR was filed against the firm in September 2024, and Rajdeep was arrested but later released on bail.

Police Action

A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code and Immigration Act, and investigations are ongoing.
