The Gandhinagar CID has initiated action against four agents involved in a visa scam totaling ₹59 lakh. The investigation centers around two primary cases of fraud related to Canadian visa applications. In the first incident, a consultancy firm named Umiya Overseas was accused of defrauding a man, Mukesh Patel, who paid ₹25 lakh for his daughter's Canada Permanent Residency application but received no services in return.

In a separate case, another individual named Jaydeep Patel engaged with Atlantic Study Overseas to secure a Canadian visa, paying ₹34 lakh. After passing the necessary IELTS exam, he found that his calls to the agency were ignored, prompting him to file a complaint.

Both incidents highlight the rising concerns regarding fraudulent practices in the immigration consultancy sector, particularly related to Canada. The CID is actively investigating these cases to bring the culprits to justice and protect potential victims from such scams.

The increase in visa fraud cases underscores the need for vigilance among individuals seeking overseas opportunities, as many fall prey to unscrupulous agents promising easy pathways to immigration.
