Malaysia has extended its visa exemption for Indian nationals, allowing them to visit the country for up to 30 days without a visa until December 31, 2026. This decision, announced in December 2024, is aimed at fostering increased tourism and economic growth.
The exemption is part of Malaysia's preparation for its ASEAN chairmanship in 2025 and the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 initiative. India is one of the top source countries for tourists, with more than 1 million Indian visitors expected in 2024.
Indian travelers will need to meet specific entry requirements, including proof of a return flight, hotel reservations, and adequate funds for their stay. The extension of this exemption further strengthens the bilateral ties between India and Malaysia.
This move is expected to drive growth in Malaysia's tourism sector, benefiting various industries such as hospitality and travel. By making travel more accessible, Malaysia is aiming to attract more Indian tourists, enhancing its position as a preferred destination for Indian travelers.
