Berlin – Germany is positioning itself as an attractive destination for India’s highly skilled professionals, as recent changes to the US H‑1B visa programme disrupt the traditional flow of talent. German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, urged Indian workers in IT, science, management, and technology sectors to explore career opportunities in Germany.

In a video message, Ackermann highlighted that Indian professionals in Germany often earn more than the average local worker, emphasizing the significant contribution of Indian talent to the German economy. “Our migration policy works a bit like a German car. It’s reliable, modern, and predictable. It will go in a straight line with no zigzags,” he said.

The appeal comes after the US imposed a USD 100,000 fee for new H‑1B visa petitions, effective 21 September 2025. The move is expected to impact Indian nationals disproportionately, as they account for over 70% of H‑1B visa recipients.

With Germany offering more transparent migration pathways, competitive salaries, and predictable rules, the country is emerging as a strong alternative for Indian professionals seeking opportunities abroad.
