Authorities in Karnataka have booked two individuals for allegedly cheating multiple job seekers of ₹86.7 lakh under the guise of providing employment visas to Australia. The accused, identified as Prakruthi and Elton Rebero, reportedly lured victims with false promises of overseas job placements.

According to the police complaint filed by Tina Nazareth, a 43-year-old resident of Gujjadi village in Kundapur, the duo—who run a school in Bengaluru—visited Gangolli in April 2024 and collected large sums of money from her and others. They allegedly claimed to have strong links with Australian employers and promised quick visa processing.

After repeated delays and failure to provide valid documentation, the victims realised they had been defrauded. A case has since been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and criminal breach of trust, and an investigation is underway.

Police sources said the accused might have targeted more individuals across different regions, and efforts are being made to identify additional victims. Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and to verify any overseas job or visa offers directly through official government or embassy channels.

The case underscores the growing number of visa-related frauds targeting aspiring migrant workers, particularly those seeking employment opportunities in countries like Australia.
