Kuwait has officially launched a new e-Visa gateway designed to streamline visa applications for international visitors. The initiative, part of the country’s Kuwait Vision 2035 development plan, aims to boost tourism and simplify travel access by digitizing the entire visa process.
The new online platform allows applicants to submit forms, upload documents, pay fees, and track their visa status entirely online. It introduces four distinct visa categories — Tourist, Family Visit, Business, and Official/Delegation — to accommodate various travel purposes.
Under the system, citizens of more than 50 approved countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Japan, and most EU nations, can apply directly for a tourist e-visa valid for stays up to 90 days. Residents of GCC countries and holders of valid US, UK, or Schengen visas are also eligible under specific employment and residency criteria.
Family visit and business visas permit stays of up to 30 days, while official or delegation visas are issued for the duration of the related event or meeting. Applicants from other countries can also apply under the general category by submitting additional documents such as financial proofs or invitation letters.
Authorities highlighted that the new system supports Kuwait’s vision of becoming a regional hub for tourism, business, and investment. The e-visa portal can be accessed through the official website kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw.
