A man from Telangana, identified as Pyata Vijay Kumar, has gone missing in Malaysia after allegedly being cheated over a work visa. Kumar left India on May 29, 2025, to take up employment abroad.

His family claims that the recruitment agent, Bodakunta Poshetty, promised a work visa but instead arranged a visit visa. The family reportedly paid ₹1.8 lakh for the visa process. After reaching Malaysia, Kumar’s wife, Jyoti, said she was informed by the agent on June 2 that Kumar was allegedly behaving erratically and was “mentally unstable.”

Kumar’s return flight was scheduled for June 6, but he reportedly went missing before he could be repatriated. The family had also paid an additional ₹30,000 for his airfare.

A complaint has been filed with the Nizamabad police regarding the alleged visa fraud, but no progress has been reported. The family has also sought intervention from the Telangana government, submitting a letter to the district collector.

Kumar’s relatives said he had a history of alcohol addiction, which may have contributed to his behavior while in Malaysia. The case highlights the risks faced by individuals seeking employment abroad and the prevalence of fraudulent recruitment practices.
