In a major boost to bilateral ties and tourism, the Philippines has announced visa-free entry for Indian nationals, while India will extend free electronic visas to Filipino visitors. The two countries will also launch direct flights between Delhi and Manila from October 1, 2025.
Under the new policy, Indian tourists can visit the Philippines without a visa for up to 14 days starting June 8, 2025, subject to standard entry requirements, including valid passport, confirmed hotel booking, proof of funds, onward ticket, and registration in the Philippines’ eTravel system. Those holding valid visas or residence permits from the U.S., Australia, Canada, Schengen states, Singapore, the U.K., or Japan may be eligible for a longer 30‑day visa‑free stay.
In return, India will waive fees for tourism e‑visas for Filipino travelers, a move announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during talks with visiting Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
To strengthen connectivity, Air India will operate five weekly non‑stop flights between Delhi and Manila using Airbus A321neo aircraft from October 1.
The announcements were made during President Marcos’ state visit to India (August 4–8), during which both nations elevated their ties to a Strategic Partnership and signed agreements spanning tourism, trade, defence, digital cooperation, and legal assistance.
Tourism experts expect the relaxed visa rules and new air links to significantly increase visitor numbers. In 2024, nearly 80,000 Indians visited the Philippines, a figure likely to rise sharply in the coming years.
