The Delhi Police Crime Branch has launched a probe into a widespread visa fraud racket after the US Embassy lodged a formal complaint. The embassy flagged agents, primarily operating from Punjab, Haryana, and other states, who were allegedly involved in submitting forged documents and false information to secure US visas for clients.

The embassy’s internal investigation, conducted between May and August last year, uncovered links to multiple IP addresses associated with visa consultants, document fabricators, and passport handlers. Over 30 individuals—comprising agents and applicants—have been named. Some applicants claim they were unaware of the falsified documents submitted on their behalf.

The police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. Officials confirm that investigations are ongoing to track the extent of the scam.

The embassy’s complaint comes amid intensified US efforts to curb illegal immigration, highlighting the extreme risks people from developing nations take to reach the US, often through unsafe and illegal routes.
