Immigration officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport have detained an 18-year-old from Ludhiana, Punjab, after discovering a fake Greece visa in his passport while he was en route to Fiji via Singapore.

According to immigration officer M.A. Ansari, the passenger, identified as Jorawar Singh, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the counterfeit visa found on page six of his passport. During questioning, Singh admitted that he had previously planned to travel to Greece for employment and had paid around ₹5 lakh to an agent for a visa, which later turned out to be forged.

After cancelling his Greece travel plans, Singh attempted to fly to Fiji, believing that he could obtain a visa on arrival. Authorities intercepted him during document verification and found discrepancies in his travel papers.

A case has been registered against Singh under charges of cheating and forgery, and his passport has been seized. Investigations are underway to trace the agent involved in producing the fake visa.

Officials have reiterated the importance of verifying visa authenticity and warned travellers against relying on unverified agents or intermediaries, as such actions can lead to detention, deportation, or criminal prosecution.
