The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced a new policy offering a 30-day grace period to holders of expired visit visas, allowing them to exit the country without facing penalties. The rule applies to all categories of visit visas, including tourist, family, business, and Umrah visas.
The Ministry of Interior clarified that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to streamline the country’s immigration processes and promote compliance with visa regulations. The grace period first came into effect in late June to coincide with the start of the Islamic Hijri year 1447 AH. A fresh 30-day window began on July 26, 2025 (1 Safar 1447 AH), extending the opportunity for visa overstayers to depart the Kingdom legally.
To utilize the grace period, visa holders must settle any outstanding fines or fees through the Absher or SADAD systems and submit an exit request via the “Tawasul” service on the Absher platform. This exit-only measure does not allow for visa renewal, extension, or change of status.
Authorities have urged all affected individuals to act promptly, emphasizing that failure to leave within the grace period may lead to significant penalties, including fines up to SAR 50,000, deportation, and multi-year re-entry bans.
The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, which aim to modernize administrative services and enhance legal compliance across all sectors, including immigration.
