South Korea has launched a new "Top-Tier Visa" program to attract highly skilled foreign professionals in advanced industries such as semiconductors, biotechnology, secondary batteries, and display technologies. This initiative offers a pathway to permanent residency after three years of stay, aiming to bolster the country's high-tech sectors.

Key Features of the Top-Tier Visa Program

  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Applicants must hold a master's or doctoral degree from a university ranked among the world's top 100.
    • They should have experience working in a global company or research institute.
    • An employment contract with a South Korean company is required.
    • Annual income should be at least three times the Gross National Income (GNI) per capita (approximately KRW 149.865 million).
    • If the annual income is four times the GNI per capita (approximately KRW 199.82 million), educational and work experience requirements may be waived.
  • Visa Benefits:
    • The visa grants "Top Talent Resident (F-2)" status, allowing free economic activities and settlement in Korea.
    • Permanent residency is obtainable after three years of stay.
    • Eligible applicants can sponsor their dependents.
    • An Immigration VIP Card is available, offering faster immigration processing and priority security checks.
