Spain has officially launched its long-awaited Digital Nomad Visa, offering remote workers the opportunity to live and work in the country legally while employed by foreign companies. The program, designed to attract international talent and boost the Spanish economy, is now open to applications — including from Indian nationals.

Under this scheme, Indian remote workers and freelancers can live in Spain for up to one year initially, with the possibility of renewal. The visa fee for Indian applicants is €75, approximately ₹7,100.

Key Highlights:

  • Eligibility: Applicants must work for a non-Spanish company and demonstrate at least 3 months of prior work experience, along with proof of stable income.
  • Minimum Income Requirement: Individuals must earn at least 200% of Spain’s minimum wage, which currently amounts to around €2,520 per month.
  • Tax Benefits: Digital nomads may qualify for a reduced non-resident tax rate of 24% on income up to €600,000 per year.
  • Family Members: Spouses and children can also apply as dependents under this visa category.

The visa is part of Spain’s broader Startup Act, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and attracting global digital professionals. Applicants can apply at the Spanish Consulates in India or through local immigration offices if already residing in Spain.

For Indian professionals seeking a blend of Mediterranean lifestyle and European work flexibility, this visa offers a compelling option.
