A Thai national, Thongphun Chayapha, was apprehended at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow for attempting to travel using multiple forged documents.
Authorities discovered that Thongphun was traveling under the alias Darin Chokthanpat and had previously entered India in July 2024 under her real identity. After being blacklisted for visa violations, she exited in March 2025 and re-entered illegally in July 2025 through Raxaul, using a new identity.
An FIR has been registered against Thongphun and three Indian accomplices—Jaswinder Singh, Navendu Mittal, and Shuvendu Nigam—under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and the Foreigners Act, 1946. Jaswinder Singh is alleged to have facilitated Thongphun’s stay and helped procure multiple fake Thai passports.
During the investigation, authorities recovered three Thai passports, two Thai IDs, a boarding pass, and two mobile phones from the suspect. Thongphun has been handed over to Sarojninagar Police for further questioning.
Officials said the case highlights the growing challenges in monitoring foreign nationals and preventing identity misuse, emphasizing the need for stricter immigration controls at international airports.
