Thailand has officially extended its visa-free entry policy for Indian nationals indefinitely, allowing Indian tourists to stay in the country for up to 60 days without a visa.

Initially introduced in November 2023 as a temporary measure set to expire on November 11, 2024, the policy has now been made permanent. Indian travelers can enjoy a 60-day stay without a visa, with the option to extend their stay by an additional 30 days through a local immigration office.

This move comes in response to the significant increase in Indian tourists visiting Thailand. In 2024, Thailand welcomed approximately 1.64 million Indian visitors, making India the third-largest source of international tourists for the country.

To further streamline the entry process, Thailand will implement an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system starting January 1, 2025. While the 60-day visa exemption remains in effect, Indian travelers will need to apply for an ETA before each trip. The application process will be conducted online, requiring travelers to submit their details digitally. The ETA is free of charge and aims to simplify entry procedures and improve the monitoring of foreign visitors.

Key Highlights:

  • Indefinite Visa-Free Entry: Indian nationals can stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa, with a possible 30-day extension.
  • Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA): Effective January 1, 2025, Indian travelers must obtain an ETA before traveling to Thailand.
  • Tourism Boost: The policy aims to enhance tourism ties between India and Thailand, making travel more accessible and convenient for Indian tourists.
