The Thai government has announced plans to reduce the visa-free stay period for tourists from 93 countries from 60 days to 30 days. The decision, confirmed by the Thai Immigration Bureau, is aimed at improving immigration control and addressing concerns over overstays and illegal activities by some foreign visitors.

Under the new policy, travelers from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and EU member states will now be permitted a maximum stay of 30 days without a visa. Tourists who wish to extend their visit will still be able to apply for extensions through Thailand’s immigration services.

Thailand’s tourism sector, a key driver of the national economy, is seeking to balance high visitor numbers with sustainable tourism practices. Authorities emphasized that the move is not meant to deter tourists but to encourage more responsible and well-regulated travel.

The new rule is expected to be officially implemented soon, with the exact date to be confirmed by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Bureau. Further updates are anticipated in the coming weeks.
