In a major policy upgrade aimed at boosting tourism and strengthening bilateral ties, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded its visa-on-arrival facility for Indian passport holders. Now, Indian citizens residing in or holding valid visas for Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea can obtain a 14-day visa-on-arrival at any UAE entry point, including major hubs like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Previously, this facility was only available to Indian travelers holding visas or residence permits from the United States, United Kingdom, or European Union. The new expansion, effective from February 13, 2025, offers eligible travelers a quick and hassle-free entry into the UAE, with the option to extend the visa for another 14 days.
Indian travelers can also opt for a 60-day visa-on-arrival by paying a fee of AED 250 (approximately ₹5,900), offering more flexibility for longer stays related to tourism, business, or family visits.
This move by UAE authorities highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a global travel and business hub, while also recognizing the increasing mobility of the Indian diaspora.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an online portal to help travelers check their visa eligibility before departure, ensuring a smooth and informed travel experience.
According to UAE Ambassador to India, Abdulnasser Alshaali, the updated policy is part of a broader commitment to enhancing people-to-people connections, promoting economic engagement, and supporting tourism growth between the two nations.
