The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new digital Return Document service for Golden Visa holders who lose or damage their passports while abroad, allowing them to re-enter the country within 30 minutes.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the service can be accessed online through the ministry’s official website or mobile app using the UAE Pass digital ID. Applicants must submit a lost-passport report, details of their Golden Visa, and a recent passport-style photograph.
The Return Document is issued free of charge and remains valid for a single entry into the UAE, expiring seven days after issuance. The facility also extends to dependents such as spouses and children listed under the Golden Visa holder’s residency permit.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance consular support and protection for Golden Visa residents abroad. Additional services now include 24/7 emergency helplines, repatriation assistance, and support in critical situations.
Officials noted that the new system significantly improves convenience for long-term residents, offering a fast and reliable solution to travel disruptions caused by passport loss. It reinforces the UAE’s commitment to providing world-class services and ensuring the well-being of Golden Visa holders worldwide.
