Chandigarh police have registered separate cases against two immigration consultancies accused of defrauding clients of nearly ₹70 lakh by promising overseas work visas. The FIRs were filed after multiple victims reported being misled with false commitments for visas to countries including Canada and Australia.

In the first case, Shree Ram Overseas, run by Deepak Sharma, allegedly cheated ten applicants of about ₹63.40 lakh. One complainant, Gurpreet Singh from Kharar, stated that he paid ₹18 lakh in instalments for his brother’s work visa, only to find the company’s office shut and the owner missing.

In the second case, Dayalinder Singh Gill of Gilzerian RC OP, Sector 26, was booked for allegedly taking ₹7.35 lakh from Narinder Singh on the pretext of securing a skilled worker visa for Canada. The complainant, who sold his ancestral house to make the payment, was later issued cheques that bounced when he demanded a refund.

Police have confirmed that investigations are underway, though no arrests have been made so far. The incidents highlight rising visa-related frauds in the region, prompting authorities to urge residents to verify the credibility of immigration consultants before making any payments.
