The Anti-Immigration Fraud Unit of Panchkula Police has arrested two men accused of duping a local resident of ₹10 lakh by promising a UK work visa.
According to officials, a complaint was lodged at Raipur Rani Police Station on August 20, alleging that the accused had taken money from the victim under the pretext of securing overseas employment. Following an investigation, the police arrested Satpal Singh, son of Hari Singh, and Krishan Kumar, son of Biru Ram, both residents of Kaithal, on September 24.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 24 of the Immigration Act. The two accused were produced before a local court, which granted a three-day police remand for further interrogation.
During the remand period, investigators aim to trace the defrauded funds and identify any possible accomplices connected to the racket.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Srishti Gupta urged the public to remain vigilant, warning against dealing with unverified agents or organisations offering foreign work visas. She stressed that only licensed and authorised immigration agencies should be approached for overseas employment opportunities.
Police officials confirmed that strict action will be taken against those involved in immigration fraud.
