Indian applicants for the United States B1/B2 visitor visas are seeing major differences in interview wait times across consulates, with Hyderabad currently offering the shortest delay, according to updated data from the U.S. Department of State.
The average wait time for a B1/B2 visa interview at the Hyderabad Consulate is now around 4.5 months, making it the fastest option for Indian travellers seeking business or tourist visas. In contrast, the Mumbai Consulate has the longest queue, with wait times stretching to nearly 11 months.
Other consulates show moderate delays: New Delhi at approximately 6.5 months, Chennai around 5 months, and Kolkata close to 5.5 months. Officials noted that appointment availability can shift frequently depending on cancellations and newly released slots.
The State Department has advised applicants to regularly monitor the Global Visa Wait Times portal before scheduling their interviews, as high demand continues to affect processing speed. The significant variation in wait times highlights the importance of selecting the most suitable consulate to avoid travel disruptions.
