Authorities in Yamunanagar have registered a case of visa fraud against five individuals for allegedly duping nearly 80 people with false promises of work visas to Australia. The case was filed at Gandhi Nagar police station based on a complaint filed by a local resident.
The accused—identified as Ramandeep Kaur, Taranpreet Singh, Ajitpal Singh, Pradeep Singh, and Ajay Kumar—are said to have operated from an immigration office located near Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk in Yamunanagar. According to police, they allegedly collected between ₹18 and ₹20 lakh from each victim, offering them job placements and guaranteed visa approvals for Australia.
The fraud came to light when the complainant, Lovely Bansal of Jagadhri, reported that he and nearly 70–80 others were asked to gather in Delhi on June 10, 2025, to collect visa documents and flight tickets. However, the accused failed to appear at the location, and all their mobile phones were found switched off. Subsequently, the immigration office in Yamunanagar was discovered to have been shut down.
Preliminary investigation suggests that this was a well-planned operation targeting individuals seeking overseas employment. Police have initiated efforts to trace the accused, who are currently absconding. Statements from other victims are being collected as part of the investigation.
This incident adds to a growing number of visa fraud cases reported in Haryana and other northern states in recent years. Officials have urged job seekers to verify the legitimacy of immigration consultancies before making any financial commitments.
Police Appeal:
The public is advised to exercise caution when dealing with employment agents promising overseas opportunities and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station immediately.
