In two separate incidents of visa fraud reported in Chandigarh, three individuals were swindled out of a total of ₹3.65 lakh by fraudsters promising overseas job opportunities. The victims, who were eager to work abroad, fell prey to fake agents who provided false assurances of visa approvals and lucrative employment in foreign countries.

In the first case, the complainant alleged that a fraudster took ₹1.5 lakh as an advance payment for securing a job overseas but disappeared without fulfilling the promise. Despite repeated attempts to contact the agent, the victim realized they had been deceived and reported the matter to the police.

In the second case, two victims were jointly defrauded of ₹2.15 lakh. The fraudsters presented themselves as legitimate visa consultants and provided fake documents, including forged visa papers, to gain the victims' trust. After receiving payment, the accused cut all communication, leaving the victims in distress and without recourse.

Authorities have registered cases under relevant sections of the law and initiated investigations to track down the culprits. These incidents highlight the growing issue of visa fraud, emphasizing the need for people to be vigilant and verify the credentials of agents or agencies before making any financial commitments. Police have also urged the public to report such fraudulent activities promptly to prevent others from falling victim to similar scams.
