In a concerning incident highlighting visa fraud, a 30-year-old man from Surat, Gujarat, was deported from Zurich, Switzerland, after it was discovered that his visa documents were forged. The man, identified as a textile worker from the Limbayat area, had reportedly paid ₹12 lakh to a local travel agent for assistance with visa processing and travel arrangements.
According to authorities, the agent provided the victim with counterfeit visa papers, which initially went unnoticed. However, upon arrival in Zurich, Swiss immigration officials detected the forgery during a verification process and deported the man back to India.
Upon returning, the victim filed a formal complaint against the agent, who is currently under investigation for fraud, forgery, and cheating. Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered, and efforts are underway to track down the accused and determine if more individuals were targeted using similar fraudulent means.
This incident underscores the growing concern over visa fraud in India, especially involving unlicensed or unscrupulous agents who exploit individuals seeking overseas opportunities. Authorities are urging the public to verify the credentials of visa consultants and use authorized channels when applying for travel documents.
