  1. Employee Card (Zamestnanecká karta):
    • The Employee Card is a type of work permit for non-EU/EEA nationals who wish to work in Slovakia.
    • It is typically issued for a specific job with a specific employer.
    • The Employee Card allows you to work and reside in Slovakia for the duration of your employment contract.
    • To obtain an Employee Card, you generally need a job offer from a Slovak employer, and they will often need to prove that there were no suitable Slovak or EU/EEA candidates for the position.
  2. EU Blue Card:
    • The EU Blue Card is designed for highly skilled non-EU/EEA nationals who want to work and reside in an EU member state, including Slovakia.
    • To be eligible, you usually need a higher education degree, a job offer with a certain minimum salary threshold, and professional experience.
    • The EU Blue Card grants you the right to work and live in Slovakia for a specified period, and it can also facilitate family reunification.
    • It offers a pathway to permanent residence and, in some cases, accelerated access to EU long-term resident status.
  3. Seasonal Employment:
    • Seasonal Employment permits are for non-EU/EEA nationals who want to work in Slovakia temporarily during specific seasons or for specific projects.
    • They are usually granted for a short duration, often less than one year, and are tied to the particular seasonal work.
    • Common sectors for seasonal employment in Slovakia include agriculture, tourism, and construction.
  4. Intra-Company Transfer (ICT):
    • The ICT permit allows employees of multinational companies to be transferred to a branch, subsidiary, or affiliate of the same company in Slovakia.
    • It is designed to facilitate the mobility of skilled employees within the company.
    • The transfer may be temporary, and the employee is expected to return to their home country or move on to another assignment within the same organization after the transfer period ends.
  5. Self-Employment:
    • Self-Employment permits are for individuals who wish to start and manage their own business in Slovakia.
    • To obtain this permit, you typically need to provide a business plan, demonstrate sufficient financial resources, and show that your business is in line with Slovakia's economic interests.
    • It allows you to work and live in Slovakia as a self-employed individual.
  6. Family Reunification:
    • Family Reunification permits are for family members of non-EU/EEA nationals who are already legally residing in Slovakia.
    • Eligible family members may include spouses, children, and sometimes other dependent relatives.
    • The purpose is to allow family members to join the primary visa holder in Slovakia and reside together.

Note: Each of these permit types has specific eligibility criteria, application processes, and durations. It’s essential to consult the relevant Slovakian authorities or the official website of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic for detailed and up-to-date information on each permit type and its requirements.
