DOCUMENT CHECKLIST

In Singapore, there are two main types of student passes available for international students. Here’s an explanation of the both types, along with their respective document requirements:

1.Becoming a Student’s Pass Holder:

  • In this category, the student applies for the Student’s Pass independently without sponsorship. The student is responsible for fulfilling the visa requirements and submitting the necessary documents. The document requirements for becoming a Student’s Pass Holder typically include:
  • Completed eForm 16: This is the application form that needs to be filled out accurately and completely.
  • Formal admissions letter: An acceptance letter from a recognized Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) in Singapore.
  • SOLAR registration acknowledgment letter: This letter confirms the student’s registration in the Student’s Pass Online Application & Registration (SOLAR) system.
  • Valid passport: The passport should have a minimum validity of 6 months beyond the intended stay in Singapore.
  • In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter: This is a letter issued by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore, indicating the approval of the Student’s Pass application.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph: A recent photograph of the student, adhering to the specified dimensions and guidelines.
  • Certificate of educational achievements and qualifications: Transcripts, diplomas, or certificates from previous educational institutions.
  • Record of employment history (if applicable): Details of previous work experience, if any.
  • Accommodation details: Information about the student’s accommodation arrangements in Singapore.
  • Financial documents: Proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses during the study period.
  • Medical examination certificate (if applicable): Some students may need to undergo a medical examination by an ICA-appointed panel doctor in their home country.

2. Sponsor Student’s Pass:

  • Under this category, a Singaporean citizen or permanent resident sponsors the student’s Student’s Pass application. The sponsor takes on the responsibility of the student’s visa application. The document requirements for a Sponsor Student’s Pass generally include:
  • Completed application form: The sponsor needs to fill out the relevant application form provided by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
  • Sponsor’s identity documents: Documents proving the sponsor’s Singaporean citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Sponsorship letter: A letter from the sponsor expressing their commitment to sponsor the student and take responsibility for their stay in Singapore.
  • Sponsor’s financial documents: Proof of the sponsor’s financial ability to support the student’s study and living expenses in Singapore.
  • Student’s documents (as mentioned in the requirements for Becoming a Student’s Pass Holder): The student will also need to provide the required documents outlined in the Becoming a Student’s Pass Holder section.

It’s essential to note that the specific document requirements may vary based on individual circumstances and the requirements set by the educational institution and the ICA. Therefore, it is advisable to consult with the chosen institution and refer to the official ICA website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the document requirements for each type of Student’s Pass

The institution will need to provide your personal details, educational background, course details, and other relevant information.
  • Provide necessary documents: Prepare the required documents for the SOLAR application.
