Singapore Visa FAQs - Answers to Common Visa Questions

Apply for a visa to Singapore within 30 days of your arrival. If you're going during the busy season (March to May), submit your application 2-4 weeks before your trip, and at least 1 week before if it's during the non-busy season.

The expiration date is included in the duration of the visa's validity.

Once the visa has been issued, its validity period cannot be changed. If you need to change the validity period, you can submit a new visa application through an authorized visa agent.

If your travel date to Singapore is within the validity period of your visa, you don't need to apply for a new visa.

It's not possible to extend the validity of your visa or change its type. If you want to stay longer or change your visa type, you need to submit a new application after your current visa has expired or been used. Keep in mind that each visa application is evaluated independently.

The visa validity is indicated on the visa itself.

You can check the status of your e-visa and download it using your visa application reference number and travel document number.

The visa application reference number is generated on the acknowledgement page when you successfully submit your visa application. If you can't find this number, you can contact the authorized visa agent you used to submit the application to and request the reference number from them.

Each visa application is evaluated independently and subject to approval. The duration of the visa granted will depend on the individual circumstances of the applicant. If you're applying for a visa online, it's recommended to submit your application about 30 days before your intended arrival in Singapore to ensure that the visa validity will be sufficient for your visit.

If you have arrived at Singapore Changi Airport and have an onward boarding pass for a connecting flight, you can stay within the Changi Airport transit area until it's time for your flight departure. You can also stay in the transit area if you obtain your onward boarding pass from one of the Transfer Lounges. However, if you're arriving on a Low Cost Carrier (LCC) or connecting to an LCC, you'll need to go through immigration clearance and obtain your onward boarding pass in the respective Departure Check-in Hall.

If you're a foreigner seeking immigration clearance, you'll need to satisfy the prevailing entry requirements, including having an entry visa, if applicable. It's important to check with the relevant airlines before your journey and visit the Changi Airport Group's websitefor more information on flights connection and transit facilities/services.

Here are the main points for transferring a valid visa to a new travel document for entry into Singapore:

It is possible to transfer a valid visa from an old travel document to a new one.
To do this, you should approach one of the authorized visa agents for assistance.
You will need to provide the following basic supporting documents:
Your old and new travel documents in original and copy form.
A printout of the valid visa.
A completed and signed Form 14A.
A recent passport-sized color photograph taken within the last three months.
Be sure to check the Photo Guidelines for information on photo requirements before submitting your application.

A single journey visa can only be used once, but a Multiple Journey Visa can be used many times within its validity period. However, having a valid visa doesn't guarantee entry into Singapore as visitors must meet the basic entry requirements.

It's important to understand that a Singapore visa is not an immigration pass, but a pre-entry permission. Having a valid visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Eligible visitors will be issued with visit passes upon arrival, which determine the length of their stay, and this is not linked to the validity of their visa.
