What happens at the Visa Application Centre

On the day of your appointment:

1. Arrive 15 minutes early.

2. Only applicants, caregivers, and adults accompanying children under 18 are allowed inside.
3. Bring:
   • Printed visa application
   • Valid passport with at least 2 blank pages
   • Original and copy of supporting documents
4. Pay visa fees if not paid online.
5. Provide biometric information (fingerprints and photo) at the centre.
6. Children under 5 must attend but don’t need to provide fingerprints.
7. If you miss your appointment, book a new one after 24 hours.
8. Visa application won’t be processed without biometrics.

Biometrics:

1. Fingerprint and facial scan will be taken.
2. Digital fingerprint scanner captures images of all fingers.
3. No sunglasses, tinted glasses, or head covering in the photo unless for religious/medical reasons.
4. Temporary finger injuries should heal before scanning.
5. No temporary body decorations on fingertips.
6. Schengen Visa applicants from the last 5 years don’t need new biometrics.
7. Applicants under 12 only need a facial scan.
8. Diplomatic passport holders and heads of state don’t need biometrics.

Visa Information System (VIS):

1. Aims to simplify visa application and border control, and prevent document counterfeiting.
2. All Schengen visa applicants must provide biometrics.
3. Exceptions:
   • Under 12 years old.
   • Physically unable to provide fingerprints (with medical certificate).
   • Head of State or official delegation on official travel.

Search Procedure:

1. Random bag searches may occur for safety.
2. Threats or abuse toward staff will not be tolerated.
